QUICK TIP OF THE WEEK

Ever wondered why your marketing efforts aren't producing results?

It’s probably because you’re focusing more on using marketing tactics than executing a marketing strategy.

Let me explain:

Marketing tactics are the individual actions or activities you use to promote or market your business.

Here are a few examples of marketing tactics you might implement:

  • Running targeted Facebook Ads to drive traffic to your website.
  • Posting weekly blog articles that showcase your expertise.
  • Hosting monthly free webinars to engage potential clients.
  • Sending out a bi-weekly newsletter with valuable content and client testimonials.

Each of these tactics serves a specific purpose. But when you use isolated marketing tactics alone you minimize your marketing impact.

If you run targeted Facebook ads to your website, that’s great and all, but what happens once that traffic hits your website?

You see that’s why you need a marketing strategy.

On the other hand, a marketing strategy is the strategic use of a series of marketing tactics to achieve a specific marketing goal.

It’s your comprehensive plan, the roadmap that guides you toward your long-term marketing objectives and sales goals.

Here’s an example of a marketing strategy:

Imagine your sales goal is to increase your client base by 20% over the next six months. Your marketing strategy might include running targeted Facebook ads to a specific webinar registration page on your website for a free webinar. The registration page then funnels registrants into a 4-email nurture sequence for a webinar event. The live webinar event includes a sales pitch for a 3-month coaching program.

This strategy is designed to systematically grow your business by leveraging a series of well-planned tactics that formulate a cohesive marketing strategy.

Here’s the thing:

Without a cohesive strategy, your marketing tactics might not work together effectively, leading to fragmented efforts and a lack of results. When you align your tactics with a well-thought-out strategy, every action you take is purpose-driven, intentional and contributes to your overall success.

Now here’s what I want you to do TODAY:

  1. Reflect on Your Current Efforts: Are they part of a larger strategy, or are they isolated tactics?
  2. Define Your Strategy: Clarify your business goals and create a strategic plan that outlines how you’ll achieve them.
  3. Choose Your Tactics Wisely: Select the right tactics that align with your strategy and execute them consistently.

By distinguishing between strategy and tactics, you can ensure that every marketing action you take is purpose-driven and moves you closer to your ultimate business goals.

This weekend I was looking at some old travel photos from my time in South Africa a few years ago. I spent 15 days in South Africa splitting my time between Johannesburg and Cape Town. You see, I experienced so much in those 2 weeks. I went on an African safari, visited the local townships and Mandela House. I also went to the most south-western point of the African continent at the Cape of Good Hope and even went to the top of Table Mountain. But as I looked at old pictures ONE image stood...
